Inauguration of the General Secretariat Bucharest of Council of Danube Cities and Regions

BUCHAREST - March 30, 2011

President of the Institute for
the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM)

First, it must be said that Romania, together with Austria have pushed forward this process. Without this, we wouldn't have come out with this project supported by the European Commission and that we are trying now to put into practice. I am happy that I was in Bucharest for the launch of the National Forum for the Danube Strategy and my mission is not just to say nice words, but to say what needs to be done in reality. We are under time pressure because the Danube Strategy began long time ago and we haven't had too many results so far. I really hope that all countries involved will cooperate so that we have concrete results. I think it is pointless to develop grand plans without anything happening on the ground.
